Today is the day.
In order to move to Hawaii I will need a job. To get that job I will need to apply for a State of Hawaii Teaching Certificate. To get that certificate I need to inform my current school district and my boss of my plans.
Deep breath. I love my current job and my boss. I couldn't be happier in my work. Why would I want to do such a crazy thing when I finally have a little seniority and am so happy in my work.
A couple of months ago we learned that my husband's current job is going away. We thought we had until June but it looks like the process is speeding up. This occurence will require us to sell our home. (My income alone will not be enough to keep us afloat here.)
I've wanted to return to Hawaii since the day I left in 2004 - so it seems like a great opportunity to make that leap.
I applied to the Hawaii School District and learned that I will need to obtain a teaching certificate from that state. This requires me to get a recommendation from my current district. I've been waiting until my boss is back in town so that I can discuss it with her first.
Today is the day.
